Enabling SMTP Authentication

Netscape Communicator Version 4.7

From the 'Edit' menu select 'Preferences', then under 'Mail & Newsgroups' select 'Mail Servers'. The pane on the right should have 'Outgoing Mail Server' options. Please enter your username in 'Outgoing User Name'.
Click 'OK'.

NOTE: Make sure you have selected 'Never' for Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or TLS for outgoing messages.

Netscape Communicator Version 7.0

From the 'Window' menu select 'Mail and Newsgroups' then select your e-mail account In the 'Accounts' section, click on 'View settings for this account'. Select 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' and on the right pane place a check mark in 'Use name and password'. In the User Name box enter your username.
Click 'OK'.

NOTE: Make sure you have selected 'Never' for Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or TLS for outgoing messages.

Outlook Express

From the 'Tools' menu select 'Accounts' highlight your DATASTORE account then select 'Properties'.
Then select the 'Servers' tab and at the bottom under 'Outgoing Mail Server' place a check mark on 'My server requires authentication'.
Click 'Apply'.
Click 'OK'.
Click 'Close'.

NOTE: *Do Not Check* Log on using Secure Password Authentication or This server requires a secure connection (SSL).

Outlook 2000

From the 'Tools' menu select 'Accounts' or 'Services' highlight your DATASTORE account then select 'Properties' from there select the 'Servers' tab and at the bottom under 'Outgoing Mail Server' place a check mark on 'My server requires authentication'.
Click 'Apply'.
Click 'OK'.
Click 'Close'.

NOTE: *Do Not Check* Log on using Secure Password Authentication or This server requires a secure connection (SSL). 

Outlook XP

From the 'Tools' menu select 'Email Accounts' or 'Services' then select 'View or Change Existing Email Accounts' and select 'Next'. Then highlight your DATASTORE account and push the 'Change' button then push the 'More Settings' button in the bottom right hand corner. Then select the 'Outgoing Servers' tab and place a check mark on 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication'.
Click 'OK'.
Click 'Next'.
Click 'Finish'.

Entourage 2001, X, and OE5 for Mac

From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.
Select your email account, then click 'Edit.'
Click the button labeled 'Click here for advanced sending options.'
Check 'SMTP server requires authentication.'
Click 'Ok.'

Mail for OS X

From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
Select your email account in the Description list, then click 'Edit.'
Check 'Use authentication when sending mail.'
Click 'OK.'

IncrediMail Xe

From the 'Tools' menu, select 'Accounts' highlight your DATASTORE account then select 'Properties'.
Select the 'Servers' tab and at the bottom under 'Outgoing Mail Server' place a check mark on 'My server requires authentication'.
Click 'OK'.
Click 'Close'.

Eudora

From the 'Tools' menu select 'Options', then select 'Sending Mail' category. Place a check mark on 'Allow authentication'.
Click 'OK'.

Pegasus

From the 'Tools' menu, select 'Internet Options', then select the 'Sending (SMTP)' tab. Place a check mark on 'Authenticate by doing a prior POP3 mail check', and a check mark on 'Login using my POP3 settings for username and password'.
Click 'OK'.

Mozilla  1.2

From the 'Edit' menu, then 'Mail & Newsgroups Accts Setting', then click on 'Outgoing Server( SMTP)'.
Click on 'Use name and password'.
Click  'OK'

Additional Settings

Open Norton Anti Virus, click on 'Options' then click on 'E-mail Protection'. On the right side you should
see your e-mail account with a check mark beside it indicating that it is protected by Norton Anti Virus. Take the check mark out of the box by clicking on it. Your e-mail is now unprotected temporarily. We will
turn it back on after we make the changes to your e-mail account in Outlook Express. Don't download any
e-mail while your are unprotected.
Click 'OK'
Click 'OK'
Close Norton Anti Virus

Open Outlook Express
From the 'Tools' menu select 'Accounts' highlight your DATASTORE e-mail account then select 'Properties'.
Then click on the 'Servers' tab. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, place a check mark in 'My server requires authentication'. Then click on 'Settings'. Change the radio button from 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' to 'Log on using'. Then enter your username in the 'Account name' box and your password in the 'Password' box.
Click 'OK'
Click 'OK'
Click 'Close'.

Open Norton Anti Virus, click on 'Options' then click on 'E-mail Protection'. On the right side you should
see your e-mail account with a check mark beside it indicating that it is protected by Norton Anti Virus. Place a check mark beside your e-mail account(s). Your e-mail is now protected again.
Click 'OK'
Click 'OK'
Close Norton Anti Virus
