Sender Lists

Sender Lists:

This allows you to make specific rules to allow or disallow delivery of email from certain email addresses or domains.

Two types of sender lists can be configured: a Whitelist and a Blacklist. A whitelist allows messages from the listed senders regardless if they are spam, while a blacklist blocks messages from the listed senders regardless if it is spam.

Sender lists will not override Realtime Blacklists or Virus Scanning. A message will still be blocked if it is from a blacklisted server and Realtime Blacklists are enabled or if it contains a virus.

Whitelist:

What is a whitelist?

It is a list of email addresses and domains that will be ignored by the spam filters and will always be delivered to your email account. A whitelist is the opposite of a blacklist.

This does not override realtime blacklists or virus scanning. A message will still be blocked if it is from a blacklisted server and realtime blacklists are enabled or if the message contains a virus.

To add a new whitelisted sender:

  1. Select the type of whitelisted sender you wish to add, either an email address or a domain.
    1. The email address must be a valid email address, i.e. name@domain.com.
    2. The domain will automatically include any subdomains and it must be a valid domain, i.e. domain.com
  2. . Enter or select the requested information and click Add Sender to continue.

If you have previously added whitelisted entries, you will be given the option to delete the entries under the “Manage existing whitelisted senders” option.

To delete a whitelisted sender:

  1. Select the senders to delete.
  2. Click on Save Changes.

Blacklist:

What is a blacklist?

It is a list of email addresses and domains that will always be treated as spam by the spam filters and will have the Spam Action applied to any message that matches. A blacklist is the opposite of a whitelist.

To add a new blacklisted sender:

  1. Select the type of blacklisted sender you wish to add.
    1. The email address must be a valid email address, i.e. name@domain.com.
    2. The domain will automatically include any subdomains and it must be a valid domain, i.e. domain.com
  2. Enter or select the requested information and click Add Sender to continue.

If you have previously added blacklisted entries, you will be given the option to delete the entries under the “Manage existing blacklisted senders” option.

To delete a blacklisted sender:

  1. Select the senders to delete.
  2. Click on Save Changes.

You may designate a domain as being blacklisted and then designate an email from that domain as being on your white list. Any email specifically from the whitelisted address will be allowed through even though the originating domain may be blacklisted.

For example, if you designate aol.com as being blacklisted but you set myemail@aol.com on your white list, the only email from the aol.com domain that will be allowed through will be myemail@aol.com.
